Ideal for a quick family dinner, a taco night, or a casual get-together, this recipe requires only 5 main ingredients and very little prep.

Why You’ll Love These Surimi Tacos

Easy recipe with only 5 ingredients.

Quick prep: just put the ingredients in the slow cooker.

Budget-friendly and satisfying meal for the whole family.

    Creamy and slightly spicy filling.

Perfect for taco nights, weekend meals, or stress-free dinners.

Can be served in tortillas, over rice, on tostadas, or with a crisp salad.

Ingredients for Slow Cooker Surimi Tacos

    450g frozen shredded surimi

250ml thick salsa, mild or hot according to your taste

120ml heavy cream or sour cream

1 small can of diced green chilies, with their juice

    1 tablespoon taco seasoning

    To Serve

    Corn or wheat tortillas

    Shredded lettuce

    Diced tomatoes

    Sliced green onions

    Lime wedges

    Shredded cheese

    Avocado or guacamole

Black beans, Mexican rice, or coleslaw

    Preparing Creamy Surimi Tacos

Place the frozen shredded surimi in the bottom of your slow cooker.

In a bowl, combine the salsa, heavy cream, green chilies with their juice, and taco seasoning.

Pour this creamy sauce over the surimi. Gently spread it evenly without mixing it in immediately.

Cover and cook on low for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or on high for about 1 1/2 hours.

When the filling is piping hot, gently stir to coat the surimi with the sauce. Crumble any larger pieces if necessary.

Taste and adjust the seasoning with a little salt, pepper, or more taco seasoning.

Keep the filling warm while you warm the tortillas.

Fill each tortilla with the creamy surimi, then add the lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, cheese, and a squeeze of lime.

    Tips and Variations

For an even creamier filling, add 2 extra tablespoons of sour cream just before serving.

Do you like spicy recipes? Use a spicy salsa or add a pinch of red chili flakes, smoked paprika, or a few drops of hot sauce.

To make this surimi taco recipe more substantial, add a cup of drained corn or a can of rinsed black beans during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

You can also turn this filling into a meal bowl: serve it over rice with black beans, corn, avocado, and a crisp salad.

    Benefits of this recipe

Surimi is a convenient and affordable option for creating a meal inspired by the flavors of the sea. Paired with a tomato-rich salsa and green chilies, it makes a flavorful and light filling. Fresh vegetables and toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and lime add color, crunch, and nutrients to your plate.

This easy slow cooker surimi taco recipe is also a great way to prepare a homemade meal with minimal effort, perfect for busy days.

    Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. Gently reheat until the filling is piping hot before serving. Do not leave at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
