Slow Cooker Meatballs and Potatoes in Brown Gravy

This easy slow cooker meatballs and potatoes recipe is the kind of old-fashioned comfort food that makes family dinners feel special without spending hours in the kitchen. Made with frozen beef meatballs, canned whole potatoes, brown gravy mix, and cream of mushroom soup, this hearty crockpot dinner comes together with just four simple ingredients.

As everything slowly cooks, the meatballs and potatoes become coated in a rich, savory gravy that tastes like a comforting homemade meal. It’s perfect for busy weeknights, family gatherings, potlucks, and holiday dinners when you need an affordable meal that feeds a crowd with very little effort.

Serve these crockpot meatballs and potatoes with green beans, corn on the cob, coleslaw, or warm dinner rolls to complete the meal. It’s a simple, satisfying recipe that may quickly become a regular request at your family table.

    Ingredients

    • 1 bag (26 ounces) frozen raw beef meatballs
    • 2 cans (15 ounces each) whole potatoes, drained
    • 1 packet (0.87 ounce) brown gravy mix
    • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup

    Instructions

    1. Lightly coat a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray if desired.
    2. Arrange the frozen raw beef meatballs in an even layer across the bottom of the slow cooker.
    3. Drain the canned whole potatoes and scatter them over the meatballs.
    4. In a medium bowl, mix the brown gravy packet with the condensed cream of mushroom soup until smooth. For a thinner gravy, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water.
    5. Pour the gravy mixture over the meatballs and potatoes, spreading it evenly.
    6. Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, following the meatball package instructions and verifying that the meatballs are fully cooked. Raw ground-beef meatballs should reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
    7. Stir gently before serving to coat everything in the savory gravy. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Tips for the Best Meatballs and Potatoes

    • Choose canned whole potatoes of similar size for more even heating.
    • Whisk the soup and gravy mix thoroughly to prevent lumps.
    • Avoid adding too much water if you prefer a thick, rich gravy.
    • Check that the meatballs are fully cooked before serving, especially when starting with frozen raw meatballs.
    • Serve with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad to balance the richness of the gravy.
    • Refrigerate leftovers promptly in shallow containers and use within 3–4 days.
