INGREDIENTS :
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
6 eggs
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter
Chocolate Frosting Ingredients:
1 stick or 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine
3 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 to 6 tablespoons of milk
1/2 cup cocoa I use Nestles 100% pure cocoa
INSTRUCTIONS :
Instructions for the cake:
Step 1: Beat sugar, shortening, vanilla and eggs with a spoon or mixer Combine flour, salt and baking soda with a wire whisk and add to cream mixture. Add the milk and continue to mix until smooth
Step 2: Divide between 3 sprayed cake pans and bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for 30-35 minutes until cool and remove from pans. You can frost with any icing you want. I use chocolate frosting.
Chocolate Frosting Instructions:
Step 3: Mix all the ingredients with the mixer until they are Spread on the cake.
