    Crispy Fried Lasagna Rolls with Creamy Spinach Alfredo Sauce

     

    Crispy Fried Lasagna Rolls are a savory twist on classic lasagna, featuring golden, crunchy exteriors with a creamy, cheesy filling. These rolls are made with rich ricotta and mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and a delicious spinach Alfredo sauce. Coated in a crispy breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture, they’re fried to perfection. Perfect for a hearty meal or savory appetizer, these rolls are sure to be a hit with cheese lovers. Serve them with extra sauce for an indulgent, comforting dish everyone will enjoy!

    Ingredients:

    For the Spinach Alfredo Sauce:

    2 tbsp unsalted butter

    ¼ medium onion, finely chopped

    1 tsp minced garlic

    ½ tsp salt (or to taste)

    ¼ tsp pepper

    ½ tsp chili flakes

    ½ tsp Italian seasoning

    2 tbsp all-purpose flour

    1 cup whole milk

    ¼ cup heavy cream

    ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese

    ¼ cup chopped spinach (frozen or fresh) (optional)

    For the Coating:

    1 ½ cups crushed crackers (or breadcrumbs)

    ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

    ½ tsp chili flakes

    For the Lasagna Rolls:

    8 cooked lasagna noodles

    1 cup ricotta cheese

    1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

    1 egg

    2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped

    Olive oil for frying

    Preparation Steps:

    1. Prepare the Spinach Alfredo Sauce:
    In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and sauté until softened (about 3-4 minutes). Add minced garlic, salt, pepper, chili flakes, and Italian seasoning, and cook for another minute.
    Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute to form a roux. Gradually add whole milk and heavy cream while whisking continuously until the sauce thickens.
    Add grated Parmesan cheese and chopped spinach (if using), then cook for 2-3 more minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

    2. Prepare the Lasagna Rolls:
    In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, egg, and fresh basil. Stir until smooth and fully combined.
    Lay out your cooked lasagna noodles. Spread a generous amount of the cheese mixture on each noodle and roll tightly, placing them seam-side down.

    3. Coat the Lasagna Rolls:
    In a shallow dish, combine crushed crackers (or breadcrumbs), shredded Parmesan cheese, and chili flakes. Roll each lasagna roll in the mixture until well-coated.

    4. Fry the Lasagna Rolls:
    Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Carefully fry the lasagna rolls in batches until golden and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

    5. Serve:
