Baked Shrimp with Lemon Butter Sauce

This baked shrimp with lemon butter sauce is a quick, elegant, and flavor-packed seafood recipe made with juicy shrimp baked in a rich garlic butter and lemon sauce. Bright, silky, and restaurant-quality, it comes together in under 20 minutes with minimal effort.

Inspired by classic French beurre citron and Mediterranean seafood cooking, it’s perfect for weeknights, healthy meals, or simple entertaining.

     Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • Quick & easy (ready in under 20 minutes)
    • Fresh, bright lemon-garlic flavor
    • Rich but light butter sauce
    • High-protein healthy seafood meal
    • Works with rice, pasta, or vegetables
    • Elegant but beginner-friendly

     Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp (peeled & deveined)
    • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 large lemon (zest + 3 tbsp juice)
    • 1 tbsp olive oil
    • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
    • 1/4 tsp black pepper
    • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
    • 3 tbsp chicken broth (instead of wine)
    • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
    • Lemon wedges for serving

     Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
    2. Pat shrimp dry and arrange in a single layer in the dish.
    3. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
    4. Add chicken broth around the shrimp to keep the sauce flavorful and moist.
    5. In a small pan, melt butter and stir in garlic, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
    6. Pour the garlic lemon butter sauce evenly over the shrimp.
    7. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until shrimp are pink and opaque.
    8. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and gently mix.
    9. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.

     Serving Ideas

    • Over rice or buttered noodles
    • With linguine or pasta
    • On a fresh green salad
    • With crusty bread for dipping

    • Spicy version: increase chili flakes or paprika
    • Light version: reduce butter and increase lemon juice
    • Sheet pan meal: bake with vegetables for a full dinner
