Ingredients (Only 4 Ingredients)
- 1 sleeve of saltine crackers (about 35–40 crackers)
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1 ½ cups (255 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Optional toppings:
- Sea salt
- Cinnamon
- Chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, peanuts)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single tight layer.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar, stirring constantly.
- Once boiling, cook for about 3 minutes until the mixture becomes thick, smooth, and caramel-like.
- Quickly pour the hot caramel over the crackers and spread evenly.
- Bake for 5–7 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit for 2 minutes to melt.
- Spread the melted chocolate into an even layer.
- Allow to cool completely, then refrigerate for 1–2 hours until firm.
- Break into pieces and enjoy!
