    Chicago-Style Bakery Apple Slices

    2 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1/4 cup packed brown sugar

    1 large egg
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/2 cup milk
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    Directions:

    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×9 baking pan.
    In a bowl, combine flour, white sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
    In a separate bowl, whisk melted butter, egg, vanilla, and milk.
    Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
    Gently fold in the apple slices.
    Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
    Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
