Ingredients:
700g Chicken Breast (chopped into bite-sized pieces)
1 Onion (see notes)
400g Chopped Tomatoes (1 can)
1 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Garlic Puree (or 3 fresh cloves)
3 tbsp Tomato Puree
150g Tikka Masala Paste
Before Serving:
4 tbsp Mango Chutney
2 tsp Garam Masala
100ml Crème Fraîche (half-fat recommended, see notes)
Instructions:
1. Add all the main ingredients into the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
2. Cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours or LOW for 6-8 hours. Ensure the chicken is thoroughly cooked before serving.
3. Before serving, mix in the garam masala, mango chutney, and crème fraîche for a creamy, tangy finish.
Notes:
Onion: Use 160g if substituting with frozen onions.
Crème Fraîche: Adjust the amount to suit your preference for creaminess. You can skip it, but it adds the classic tang to the dish.
Chicken: Substitute with boneless, skinless chicken thighs if preferred, but they may need slightly longer cooking.
Freezing: For batch cooking, freeze before adding crème fraîche. If freezing leftovers, note that dairy can sometimes separate when thawed.
Serving Suggestions: Pair with fluffy basmati rice, garlic naan, raita, or crispy poppadoms.
This Slow Cooker Chicken Tikka Masala is a no-fuss, flavorful meal perfect for busy weeknights. It’s an easy way to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine at home. Great for meal prep or feeding a crowd!
