Made with juicy ground beef, savory French onion soup mix, and gooey Swiss cheese, it’s packed with rich, hearty flavors. The caramelized onions add a sweet, savory depth, while the crockpot ensures tender, perfectly cooked results. It’s an easy, hands-off dinner perfect for busy weeknights or cozy family meals. Serve it with mashed potatoes or roasted veggies for a complete, satisfying meal!

    Ingredients:

    1 1/2 lbs ground beef

1 packet French onion soup mix

    1/2 cup breadcrumbs

    1/2 cup milk

    1 egg, beaten

    1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese (plus extra slices for topping)

    2 onions, thinly sliced

    2 tbsp butter

    1/2 cup beef broth

    Salt and pepper, to taste

    Fresh parsley, for garnish

    Tools Needed:

    Skillet: For caramelizing onions.

    Crockpot: For slow, even cooking.

Mixing Bowl: To combine the meatloaf ingredients.

    Spatula: For stirring and shaping.

    Optional Additions and Substitutions:

Ground Turkey or Chicken: For a leaner option.

Cheese Variations: Swap Swiss with Gruyère or provolone.

    Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs.

Extra Veggies: Add finely diced mushrooms or bell peppers for more texture.

    Step-by-Step Instructions:

    1. Caramelize the Onions

Heat 2 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat.

Add sliced onions and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and caramelized. Set aside.

    2. Prepare the Meatloaf

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, French onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, milk, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, and shredded Swiss cheese.

Season with salt and pepper and gently mix. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.

    3. Shape and Assemble

Form the mixture into a loaf and place it in the crockpot.

Top with half of the caramelized onions.

    4. Slow Cook the Meatloaf

Pour 1/2 cup beef broth over the meatloaf.

Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until fully cooked.

    5. Add the Melty Cheese

In the last 10 minutes, place Swiss cheese slices on top of the meatloaf. Cover and let it melt.

    6. Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve hot with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal!

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

Easy Prep: The crockpot does most of the work.

Rich Flavor: French onion soup mix and caramelized onions add depth.

Customizable: Swap ingredients to fit dietary needs or taste preferences.
