    Creamy Sausage Puff Pastry Pie Recipe

    A rich, comforting savory sausage pie wrapped in buttery puff pastry with a creamy filling. Perfect for family dinners, holiday meals, or weeknight comfort food.

    Ingredients:

    For the Creamy Sausage Filling:

    1 lb ground sausage (breakfast sausage or Italian sausage)

    1 small onion, finely chopped

    2 cloves garlic, minced

    2 tbsp butter

    2 tbsp all-purpose flour

    1 ½ cups milk (or half-and-half for extra creaminess)

    1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (optional for extra cheesy flavor)

    Salt and black pepper to taste

    Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

    For the Golden Puff Pastry Crust:

    1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

    1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

     

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat the Oven:
    Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) for the perfect golden puff pastry crust.

    2. Cook the Sausage:
    In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and slightly crispy. Add onion and garlic, cooking until fragrant and softened.

    3. Make the Creamy White Sauce:
    Push sausage to the side. Melt butter in the same skillet, whisk in flour to create a roux, and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add milk while stirring, letting the sauce thicken into a creamy sausage gravy. Season with salt and pepper.

    4. Optional Cheesy Upgrade:
    Stir in shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese for a cheesy sausage puff pastry pie.

    5. Assemble the Pie:
    Pour the creamy sausage filling into a baking dish. Place the thawed puff pastry sheet over the top, trimming edges if needed. Seal with a fork and cut small slits on top for steam to escape.

    6. Egg Wash for Golden Perfection:
    Brush the puff pastry with beaten egg for a glossy golden-brown finish.

    7. Bake the Pie:
    Bake for 25–30 minutes until the puff pastry is puffed and golden brown.

    8. Serve & Garnish:
    Let cool slightly, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
