    Traditional French Beef Stew Recipe

    Discover the rich flavors of a classic French dish with this Traditional French Beef Stew recipe. Perfectly tender beef chunks simmered in a savory broth with vegetables and herbs make this a comforting and hearty meal.

    Ingredients:
    – 3 lbs beef chuck, cut into 2-inch cubes
    – Salt and black pepper, to taste
    – 2 tbsp olive oil
    – 8 oz bacon, chopped
    – 1 large onion, chopped
    – 2 carrots, sliced
    – 3 cloves garlic, minced
    – 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
    – 2 cups beef broth
    – 1 tbsp tomato paste
    – 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
    – 2 bay leaves
    – 8 oz pearl onions, peeled
    – 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
    – Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

    Directions:

    1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    2. Prepare the Beef: Season the beef chunks with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches, browning on all sides. Remove and set aside.
    3. Cook the Bacon: In the same pot, add chopped bacon and cook until crispy. Remove and set aside.
    4. Sauté Vegetables: Add chopped onion and carrots to the pot, cooking until the onion is translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
    5. Thicken the Stew: Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir well.
    6. Combine Ingredients: Return the browned beef and crispy bacon to the pot. Add beef broth, tomato paste, thyme, and bay leaves. Bring to a boil.
    7. Bake: Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven. Cook for 2 hours.
    8. Add Vegetables: After 2 hours, add pearl onions and sliced mushrooms to the pot. Cook for an additional 30 minutes, or until the beef is tender.
    9. Finish and Serve: Remove from the oven, discard the bay leaves, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
