Southern West Virginia Hot Dog Chili Sauce

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp dried minced onion
1 Tbsp garlic powder
Pinch of red pepper flakes
2–3 cups water
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
Instructions:
1. Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess grease.
2. Season and Simmer: Add chili powder, paprika, cumin, kosher salt, black pepper, dried minced onion, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine. Pour in 2–3 cups of water until the beef is covered. Simmer on low for 1–2 hours until the flavors meld together.
3. Sweet and Tangy Finish: Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Let simmer for another 30 to 45 minutes until thickened.
4. Serve and Enjoy: Spoon the chili sauce over grilled hot dogs, top with chopped onions and shredded cheese if desired and enjoy the authentic Southern West Virginia flavor!
