    Savory Steak with Mushroom Gravy and Creamy Mashed Potatoes

    Indulge in the ultimate comfort food: juicy pan-seared steak topped with rich mushroom gravy, served alongside buttery, creamy mashed potatoes. This easy dinner recipe is perfect for weeknight meals or special occasions.

    Ingredients:

    For the Steak:

    4 steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or your favorite cut)

    Salt and black pepper, to taste

    2 tbsp olive oil or unsalted butter

    For the Mushroom Gravy:

    2 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced

    2 tbsp butter

    2 garlic cloves, minced

    1 cup beef broth

    ½ cup heavy cream

    1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for slurry)

    Salt and pepper, to taste

    For the Creamy Mashed Potatoes:

    2 lbs russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed

    ½ cup milk

    ¼ cup heavy cream

    4 tbsp unsalted butter

    Salt and black pepper, to taste

    Instructions:

    1. Make the Creamy Mashed Potatoes:

    Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 15–20 minutes).

    Drain and mash with milk, heavy cream, butter, salt, and pepper until velvety smooth. Keep warm.

    2. Cook the Juicy Steak:

    Pat steaks dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.

    Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.

    Sear steaks for 3–4 minutes per side (or to desired doneness). Remove and let rest.

    3. Prepare the Rich Mushroom Gravy:

    In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced mushrooms until golden-brown.

    Add garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).

    Pour in beef broth and heavy cream, bringing it to a gentle simmer.

    Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the gravy thickens. Season to taste.

    4. Plate and Serve:

    Serve steaks with a generous scoop of creamy mashed potatoes.

    Drizzle the warm mushroom gravy over both steak and potatoes.
