    Ingredients

    1 kg blade steak or chuck steak, cut into strips

    2 onions, thinly sliced

    3 cloves garlic, crushed

    500 g mushrooms, sliced

    ½ cup tomato paste

    1 cup tomato puree

    2 tbsp paprika

    250 ml beef stock

    1 tbsp whole grain mustard (or regular mustard)

    ¾ cup sour cream

    Salt and black pepper, to taste

     

    Instructions

    1. Prepare the base:
    Add the sliced beef, onions, garlic, tomato paste, tomato puree, paprika, beef stock, mustard, salt, and pepper into the slow cooker. Stir well to combine all the flavors.

    2. Set and forget:
    Cook on high for 4–5 hours or on low for 7–9 hours until the beef is fall-apart tender.

    3. Final touches:
    Add the sliced mushrooms about 1 hour before serving to keep them firm but tender. Stir in the sour cream about 20 minutes before you’re ready to eat, giving the sauce its signature creamy texture.

    4. Serve and enjoy:
    Serve your delicious slow cooker beef stroganoff over buttered egg noodles, fluffy mashed potatoes, or steamed rice.
