Ingredients:
1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli
1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
2 cups ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Directions:
1. Brown the Meat: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or turkey over medium heat until browned, breaking it into small pieces. Drain any excess fat.
2. Sauté the Aromatics: Add diced onion and garlic to the skillet; cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
3. Prepare the Sauce: Stir in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let simmer on low for 5–10 minutes to enhance the flavors.
4. Layer in the Crockpot: Spray the crockpot with cooking spray. Spread a thin layer of the sauce mixture at the bottom. Add a layer of frozen cheese ravioli, then spoon half of the ricotta over the ravioli. Sprinkle with half of the shredded mozzarella.
5. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process with the remaining sauce, ravioli, ricotta, and mozzarella. Finish with grated Parmesan cheese.
6. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours until the ravioli is tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
7. Garnish and Serve: Top with fresh parsley before serving for a burst of color and flavor.
