Ingredients:
For the Salisbury Steak:
1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juicy flavor)
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 egg
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
For the Gravy:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt & pepper, to taste
For the Green Beans:
1 can (14 oz) green beans, drained
1 tsp olive oil
Salt & pepper, to taste
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Form into 4 evenly-sized oval patties.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove patties from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
Whisk in flour to form a roux and cook for 1–2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens.
Season with salt and pepper.
Return the patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over the top, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes until the steaks are cooked through.
While the steak simmers, heat olive oil in a small pan.
Add drained green beans, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for 3–4 minutes until warmed through.
Plate the Salisbury steaks with gravy poured over the top and a side of savory green beans. Optionally, serve with mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
