Crockpot Swiss Steak Recipe
This Crockpot Swiss Steak is the ultimate comfort food tender slow-cooked beef steaks smothered in a rich tomato gravy with carrots, celery, onion, and garlic. It’s hearty, flavorful, and perfect for serving with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.

Ingredients:
1½ lbs round steak, cube steak, or minute steaks
2 carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 celery rib, cut into 1-inch pieces
½ onion, thickly sliced
2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 cup beef broth (plus 1 extra cup if needed)
1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes with juices
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp dried thyme
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Cornstarch + water (optional, for thickening)
How to Make Crockpot Swiss Steak
Prepare the Steaks Lightly coat the beef steaks with flour and season with salt and black pepper.
Sear the Meat In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and brown steaks for 2–3 minutes per side until golden. Transfer steaks to the crockpot.
Add Vegetables Place carrots, celery, onion, and garlic on top of the steaks.
Make the Sauce Deglaze the skillet with 1 cup of beef broth, then stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Pour the mixture over the steaks and vegetables.
Slow Cook Cover and cook on LOW for 7–8 hours, or until the beef is fall-apart tender.
Optional Thick Gravy If you prefer a thicker gravy, mix cornstarch with water, stir it into the sauce, and cook on HIGH for 10–15 minutes.
