    Homemade Krispy Kreme

    If you’ve ever dreamed of making real Krispy Kreme style doughnuts at home, this recipe is for you! These homemade glazed doughnuts are incredibly soft, airy, and melt-in-your-mouth, with that classic sweet vanilla glaze everyone loves. Made with simple pantry ingredients, this recipe delivers bakery-quality doughnuts without any special equipment. Perfect for weekend treats, family breakfasts, parties, or holiday desserts.

    Ingredients:

    Dough
    3 tbsp milk
    3 tbsp boiling water
    1 tsp active dry yeast
    8 oz all-purpose flour (just under 2 cups, weighed for accuracy)
    1½ oz sugar (about 3 tbsp)
    1 egg
    1 oz butter, cold to room temperature
    1 dash salt
    Oil for frying
    Classic Glaze
    ⅓ cup butter
    2 cups confectioners’ sugar
    1½ tsp vanilla extract
    4 tbsp hot water

    Directions:

    In a large measuring jug, mix the milk and boiling water. Add 1 teaspoon of the sugar and the yeast. Stir gently and let sit in a warm place until foamy.

    In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter using your fingers or a pastry blender until crumb-like.

    Add the lightly beaten egg and yeast mixture to the flour. Mix into a smooth dough (about 5 minutes). Knead on a floured surface for 5–10 minutes until springy and slightly bubbly.

    Place dough in a bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

    Divide dough into 4 pieces. Roll each into a rope (1–1½ inches thick). Cut into 1-inch pieces, roll into balls, and place on a tray. Cover and let rise while heating oil.

    Heat oil to 375°F (190°C). Fry doughnuts in batches for about 2 minutes per side until golden brown.

    Melt butter, then whisk in confectioners’ sugar, vanilla, and hot water until smooth.

    Drain doughnuts and immediately glaze while warm for that signature Krispy Kreme finish.

    Serving Tips:
