Make the best Southern Sweet Potato Casserole with buttery mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar, and crunchy pecans. Perfect Thanksgiving or holiday side dish!

    Ingredients:

    Sweet Potato Base:
3 cups sweet potatoes, peeled and boiled
    ½ cup granulated sugar
    ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    ⅓ cup milk
    Crunchy Pecan Topping:
    ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
    1 cup light brown sugar
    ½ cup all-purpose flour
    1 cup chopped pecans

    Directions:

    Boil and Mash Sweet Potatoes:
Boil sweet potatoes until tender. Mash until creamy for the perfect Southern sweet potato casserole base.
    Mix Sweet Potato Filling:
Combine mashed sweet potatoes with sugar, butter, beaten eggs, vanilla, and milk. Mix until smooth and creamy.
    Assemble the Casserole:
Spread the sweet potato mixture evenly in a 13×9-inch baking dish. This is the perfect base for your easy holiday sweet potato side dish.
    Prepare Pecan Topping:
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, flour, and chopped pecans until crumbly.
    Top and Bake:
Sprinkle the pecan topping over the sweet potato mixture. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes, or until the topping is golden and crunchy.
