Easy Homemade Cherry Turnovers with Puff Pastry

These Homemade Cherry Turnovers are a quick and delicious dessert made with flaky puff pastry, sweet cherry pie filling, and a simple vanilla glaze. Perfect for a breakfast treat, afternoon snack, or holiday dessert, these turnovers come together in less than 30 minutes!

Ingredients:

1 package puff pastry (2 sheets, thawed)

1 cup cherry pie filling (fresh or canned)

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2–3 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Prepare puff pastry: Thaw and roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 squares.

3. Add cherry filling: Place 1–2 tbsp of cherry pie filling in the center of each square.

4. Fold & seal: Fold each square into a triangle, pressing edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp for that classic bakery look.

5. Egg wash: Beat the egg with 1 tbsp milk and brush over the tops for a golden, shiny finish.

6. Bake turnovers: Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.

7. Make the glaze: Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed.

8. Drizzle & enjoy: Once the cherry turnovers cool slightly, drizzle with glaze and serve warm.

Tips & Variations:

Swap cherry filling for apple, blueberry, or peach for different fruit turnovers.

For extra flavor, sprinkle a little cinnamon sugar over the egg wash before baking.

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate dessert.
