Classic Old-Fashioned Beef Stroganoff Recipe
Craving a hearty, comforting dish? This creamy Old-Fashioned Beef Stroganoff is a timeless favorite! Tender beef strips simmered in a rich, savory sour cream sauce with onions, garlic, and Worcestershire, served over egg noodles or fluffy rice. It’s the ultimate comfort food recipe for busy weeknights or cozy weekends.
Ingredients:
1 lb beef tenderloin, thinly sliced into strips (sirloin or ribeye works too)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup sour cream
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add beef strips in batches, searing until browned. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
2. In the same pan, sauté onions and garlic until soft and fragrant about 3 minutes.
3. Sprinkle in flour, stirring constantly for 1 minute to form a roux.
4. Gradually pour in beef broth, whisking to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce and simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
5. Lower the heat and return the beef to the skillet. Stir in sour cream and cook gently until the sauce becomes creamy and thick around 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
6. Serve hot over buttered egg noodles or steamed rice. Garnish with fresh parsley for a burst of color and flavor.
