3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

1 hot pepper (Scotch bonnet or habanero), finely chopped (optional for heat)

1 tsp Caribbean-style curry powder

1/2 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

1/4 tsp ground allspice

Salt and black pepper to taste

1/2 cup water or beef broth

1 tbsp fresh chopped cilantro or parsley

For Serving:

4–6 Caribbean-style roti or flatbreads

Optional toppings: chopped lettuce, diced tomato, cucumber slices, or a dollop of yogurt sauce

Instructions:

  1. Sauté Aromatics

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add onions and cook until translucent (about 4 minutes).
Stir in garlic, ginger, and optional hot pepper. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

  1. Cook Spiced Ground Beef

Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
Sprinkle in curry powder, turmeric, cumin, paprika, allspice, salt, and pepper.
Mix well until the beef is fully coated in the rich curry seasoning.

  1. Add Potatoes & Simmer

Stir in the diced potatoes and pour in water or broth.
Cover and simmer over low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are tender and the liquid is absorbed.
Finish with fresh herbs and adjust seasoning if needed.

  1. Assemble the Roti Wraps

Warm roti or flatbreads on a skillet or in the oven.
Spoon the spiced beef and potato curry mixture into the center.
Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, or a drizzle of yogurt.
Fold or roll to create your perfect Caribbean-style roti wrap!
