    Maggiano’s Classic Lasagna Recipe

     

    Maggiano’s Classic Lasagna Recipe

     

    Get ready to indulge in a rich and cheesy lasagna inspired by Maggiano’s! This Italian comfort dish is layered with a savory meat sauce, creamy ricotta mixture, and melted mozzarella perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special gathering.

    Ingredients:

    For the Meat Sauce:

    1 pound ground beef

    1 pound Italian sausage (casings removed)

    1 medium onion, chopped

    4 cloves garlic, minced

    28 oz can crushed tomatoes

    6 oz tomato paste

    2 teaspoons dried oregano

    1 teaspoon dried basil

    1 teaspoon sugar

    Salt and pepper to taste

    For the Ricotta Mixture:

    15 oz ricotta cheese

    1 large egg

    1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

    1 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon black pepper

    1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

    For Assembly:

    12 lasagna noodles (uncooked or cooked according to package instructions)

    3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

    Extra grated Parmesan cheese for topping

    Instructions

    1. Make the Meat Sauce:

    In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned.

    Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.

    Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavorful.

    2. Prepare the Ricotta Mixture:

    In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, egg, grated Parmesan, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Mix until creamy and smooth.

    3. Assemble the Lasagna:

    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish.

    Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce.

    Spread half the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then sprinkle with one-third of the mozzarella and one-third of the meat sauce.

    Repeat the layers: noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, another third of mozzarella, and half of the remaining meat sauce.

    Top with the final 4 noodles, the remaining meat sauce, and mozzarella. Sprinkle extra Parmesan on top.

    4. Bake:

    Cover the dish with foil (spray the foil with cooking spray to prevent sticking).

    Bake for 25 minutes covered, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.

    Let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing for clean, delicious layers.

    Prep Time: 30 minutes | Cook Time: 1 hour | Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes | Servings: 8
