– 1 lb ground beef
– 8 slices of rye bread
– 8 slices of Swiss cheese
– 1 large onion, thinly sliced
– 4 tbsp butter, plus more for spreading
– Salt and pepper to taste

**Secret Sauce Ingredients:**

– 1/2 cup mayonnaise
– 2 tbsp ketchup
– 1 tbsp relish
– 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
– 1/2 tsp garlic powder
– 1/2 tsp onion powder
– Salt and pepper to taste

 

 

**Directions for Making the Ultimate Patty Melt:**

1. **Prepare the Secret Sauce:** Combine mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Adjust the seasoning to your taste and set aside.
2. **Caramelize the Onions:** In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp of butter. Add thinly sliced onions, season with salt and pepper, and cook until caramelized, approximately 10-15 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
