    Soda Cake Recipe

    Soda Cake Recipe

    Ingredients:
    – 1 box (15.25 ounces) vanilla cake mix
    – 1 can (12 ounces) orange soda
    – 1 teaspoon pure orange extract
    – 2 containers (12 ounces each) whipped white frosting
    – 2-3 drops orange gel food coloring

    Instructions:
    1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper circles and lightly coat with baking spray. Set aside.
    2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, orange soda, and orange extract.
    3. Use a handheld mixer on medium-low speed to blend the ingredients for 1 to 1½ minutes until smooth.
    4. Divide the cake batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 22 to 24 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely.
    5. In a small mixing bowl, mix half of one container of whipped frosting with 2-3 drops of orange gel food coloring until the color is uniform. Set aside.
    6. Remove one cake from the pan and place it on a serving dish. Spread half of the opened frosting container onto the cake evenly.
    7. Carefully place the second cake layer on top of the bottom layer.
    8. Spread the second container of whipped frosting over the top and sides of the cake evenly.
    9. Using a decorator’s bag fitted with a star-shaped tip, or a quart-size Ziploc with a small corner snipped off, pipe small rose shapes around the outer edge of the cake. Repeat the pattern around the cake.
