    Smothered Chicken and Rice Bake

     

    This Smothered Chicken and Rice recipe brings cozy comfort with every bite. Juicy, seasoned chicken thighs are nestled over creamy, flavorful rice, all cooked in one skillet for an easy, satisfying meal. A blend of garlic, onion, and paprika adds warmth, while the heavy cream makes the dish irresistibly creamy. It’s the perfect recipe for a family dinner that feels both hearty and indulgent.     Ingredients:

    4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

    1 cup long-grain rice

    2 cups chicken broth

    1 medium onion, chopped

    2 cloves garlic, minced

    1/2 cup heavy cream

    1/2 teaspoon paprika

    1 teaspoon garlic powder

    1 teaspoon onion powder

    1 teaspoon dried thyme

    Salt and pepper, to taste

    2 tablespoons olive oil

    1 tablespoon butter

    Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

    Instructions:

    1. Season the Chicken

    Generously season chicken thighs on both sides with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper for that perfect savory base.

    2. Sear for Flavor

    In a large, oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high. Place chicken thighs, skin side down, and sear for about 5-6 minutes until golden. Flip and sear the other side for 4-5 minutes. Set aside.

    3. Sauté Onions & Garlic

    Using the same skillet, melt butter. Sauté chopped onions and minced garlic for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and softened.

    4. Prepare the Rice

    Stir in uncooked long-grain rice to coat it with the onion-garlic mixture. Add chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine, and bring to a simmer.

    5. Add Chicken and Bake

    Nestle the chicken thighs back into the rice mixture, skin side up.

    6. Bake to Perfection

    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover skillet with a lid or foil, then bake for 30-35 minutes or until rice is tender and chicken is cooked through.

    7. Garnish and Serve

    Let rest a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley for a touch of color and flavor.
