    Smashing Patty Melts with Signature Sauce

    Make the ultimate Smashing Patty Melts at home with this easy, flavorful recipe! Juicy smashed beef patties, melted cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and a tangy signature sauce come together for a sandwich that’s crispy on the outside and ooey-gooey on the inside. Perfect for homemade patty melts, lunch, dinner, or game day.

    Ingredients:

    For the Smashing Patty Melts:
    1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend)
    4 slices sourdough bread or rye bread
    4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
    1 large onion, thinly sliced
    2 tbsp unsalted butter
    1 tbsp olive oil
    Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
    For the Signature Sauce:
    1/4 cup mayonnaise
    2 tbsp ketchup
    1 tbsp yellow mustard
    1 tbsp sweet pickle relish
    1 tsp smoked paprika
    1 tsp garlic powder

    Instructions:

    Whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, smoked paprika, and garlic powder in a small bowl. This signature sauce makes your patty melts extra flavorful and irresistible.

    In a skillet over medium-low heat, melt 1 tbsp butter with olive oil. Add thinly sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and sweet. Caramelized onions are a must for classic patty melts.

    Divide ground beef into 4 balls. Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place a ball on the hot surface and smash it flat with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until the smashed beef patties are crispy and cooked through.

    Spread a thin layer of signature sauce on one side of each bread slice. Layer with cheddar cheese, a smashed beef patty, caramelized onions, and more cheese. Top with the second slice of bread, sauce side down.

    Melt the remaining butter in the skillet over medium heat. Place sandwiches in the skillet and press gently. Cook 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted. Perfect homemade patty melts!

    Slice in half and serve immediately with extra signature sauce. Enjoy your crispy, cheesy patty melts with caramelized onions for an unbeatable flavor experience.
