Ingredients:
Beef
1 ½ pounds beef short ribs or sirloin tip (can substitute chuck roast) – cut into 1-inch pieces
McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning
Gravy
1 medium onion, diced
8 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp soy sauce
1.5 oz dry beef stew mix packet
0.87 oz dry brown gravy mix packet
½ cup beef broth
2 cups warm water
Serving
Mashed potatoes
Fresh herbs (optional garnish)
Instructions:
1. Season the Beef: Generously sprinkle Montreal Steak Seasoning over the 1-inch pieces of beef.
2. Sear the Meat: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the beef pieces on all sides (no need to cook them through).
3. Transfer to Slow Cooker: Move the browned beef into your slow cooker.
Prepare the Gravy:
4. In the same skillet, sauté diced onions and sliced mushrooms until softened.
5. Add Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and soy sauce to the skillet. Stir well.
6. Mix in the dry beef stew packet, brown gravy packet, beef broth, and warm water.
7. Bring the gravy to a simmer over medium heat, allowing it to bubble. Reduce heat and let it cook for 10 minutes.
8. Combine: Pour the prepared gravy over the beef in the slow cooker.
9. Cook: Set the slow cooker on low and let it cook for about 4 hours. (For larger cuts of meat, cooking time may increase.)
Serve:
10. Spoon the tender beef and rich gravy over fluffy mashed potatoes. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes:
Pairing: This dish is perfect with mashed potatoes, white rice, or roasted vegetables.
Meat Tips: Ensure meat pieces are cut to 1-inch for even cooking. Larger chunks may require additional time.
Gravy Lovers: The rich, savory gravy makes this dish a family favorite!
