Easy Chinese Beef and Onion Stir Fry with tender flank steak, caramelized onions, and a savory garlic soy sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner over rice or noodles.

Ingredients:

For the Chinese Beef Stir Fry:
1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
2 large onions, sliced
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp vegetable oil or sesame oil
1 tbsp ginger, minced (optional)
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 cup beef broth or water
1 tbsp sugar
Salt and pepper, to taste
Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

Marinate the Beef:
Combine sliced beef with 1/4 cup soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Marinate for 15 minutes. This step ensures tender beef for stir fry.

Prepare the Sauce:
Mix remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, sugar, and pepper. Set aside.

Stir Fry the Beef:
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Add beef and stir fry 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove beef and set aside.

Cook Onions and Garlic:
In the same skillet, sauté onions 3-4 minutes until soft. Add garlic and ginger (if using) and cook 1 more minute.

Combine and Finish:
Return beef to the skillet. Pour in the sauce and stir fry 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. This creates a savory Chinese beef and onion stir fry that’s full of flavor.

Serve:
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles for a quick and easy Chinese dinner.
