Sausage, Gravy, and Biscuit Pie Recipe
Ingredients:
– 1 lb sausage
– 2 cups milk
– 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
– 8 biscuits (pre-made or homemade)
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
– 1/2 teaspoon ground sage
– Optional: 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes for added spice
Directions:
1. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
2. Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage and stir well. Cook for about 2 minutes to allow the flour to blend with the sausage.
3. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Then, reduce the heat and let it simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and sage. Add red pepper flakes for extra heat if desired.
4. While the gravy simmers, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
5. Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with the biscuits.
6. Once the gravy is thickened, pour it over the biscuits in the baking dish.
7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
