Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup diced green pepper
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup provolone cheese, sliced
1/2 cup beef broth
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp mustard
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and let it heat up while you prepare your meatloaf.
2. Mix the Meatloaf Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, milk, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly for a well-combined mixture.
3. Assemble the Layers:
Press half of the meat mixture into a loaf pan, creating an even base layer.
Place sliced provolone cheese over the meat, leaving a small border around the edges to avoid cheese leakage.
Add the remaining meat mixture on top, pressing firmly to seal the cheese inside.
4. Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Pour the sauce evenly over the top of the meatloaf for a tangy glaze.
5. Bake to Perfection:
Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
6. Rest and Serve:
Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy the cheesy, savory goodness!
