Ingredients:
For the Steaks:
1 lb ground beef (high-quality, lean)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 egg
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Salt & pepper, to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
For the Gravy:
1 large onion, sliced
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt & pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Prepare the patties: In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, finely chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4–6 patties.
Cook the steaks: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown patties for 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
Make the gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions for 5 minutes until softened. Add mushrooms and cook for another 3–4 minutes.
Thicken the gravy: Sprinkle flour over onions and mushrooms, stirring for 1–2 minutes until lightly browned. Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits. Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.
Combine & simmer: Return the patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, reduce heat, and simmer 10–15 minutes until patties are fully cooked and flavors meld.
Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley. Pair with creamy mashed potatoes, steamed rice, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
