Mozzarella Chicken Casserole

Ingredients:
2 lbs (900 g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups marinara or pasta sauce (homemade or store-bought)
2 cups cooked pasta (penne, rotini, or rigatoni)
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add chicken, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning.
Cook until golden and no longer pink (about 6–7 minutes). Remove from heat.
In the prepared dish, layer in this order:
Half the cooked pasta
Half the marinara sauce
All of the cooked chicken
Half of the mozzarella and Parmesan
Remaining pasta and sauce
Finish with the last layer of cheese
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
Uncover and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
