Ingredients:

– 2 tbsp homemade BBQ rub/seasoning OR 2 tsp favorite store-bought BBQ seasoning
– 2 tbsp vegetable oil
– 3 cups BBQ sauce
– Desired amount of liquid smoke (I used a little over 1 tbsp)
– 3 cups beef broth OR chicken broth OR water
Directions:
1. Prep Oxtails: Place the oxtails and chopped onions into a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with vegetable oil and ensure everything is nicely coated. Sprinkle BBQ seasoning over the oxtails.
2. Brown Oxtails: Transfer the oxtails and onions to a large pot over medium-high heat. Brown the oxtails and onions, then remove from the pot and place into a slow cooker.
3. Prepare Sauce: Return to the pot used for browning. Pour in the beef broth, chicken broth, or water. Add BBQ sauce and liquid smoke. Mix well and let cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.
4. Combine and Cook: Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the oxtails in the slow cooker. Cover with the lid and cook on LOW for 6 hours.
