Ingredients:

1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup sugar
1 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
2–3 jalapeños, finely chopped (adjust heat level)

Directions:

 

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8×8 baking dish or cast-iron skillet.
Mix dry ingredients cornmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar.
