    Hearty Cabbage Roll Casserole

     

    Looking for a flavor-packed, easy cabbage roll casserole recipe? This layered cabbage casserole has all the comforting flavors of traditional stuffed cabbage rolls but without the extra work! Perfect for a cozy family dinner, this dish is loaded with savory ground beef, garlic-infused tomato sauce, tender cabbage, and melty mozzarella cheese.

    Ingredients:

    1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)

    1 medium onion, chopped

    2 cloves garlic, minced

    1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

    1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes

    1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

    1/4 cup water or beef broth

    1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

    1 tbsp brown sugar

    1/2 tsp salt

    1/4 tsp black pepper

    1/2 tsp paprika (optional)

    1 medium head of cabbage, chopped

    1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or cheddar)

    Instructions:

    Cook the Meat:
    In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey) over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened (about 3-4 minutes).

    Make the Flavorful Sauce:
    Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika. Simmer for 10 minutes to let the flavors blend.

    Add the Rice:
    Mix in the cooked rice and water (or broth). Simmer for 5 more minutes, then remove from heat.

    Prepare the Cabbage:
    In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add chopped cabbage and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened. Drain and set aside.

    Assemble the Casserole:
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a 9×13-inch casserole dish, layer half of the cooked cabbage, then top with half of the meat mixture. Repeat with another layer of cabbage and the remaining meat mixture.

    Top with Cheese & Bake:
    Sprinkle shredded mozzarella (or cheddar) cheese evenly over the casserole. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

    Serve & Enjoy!
    Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. This easy cabbage roll bake is perfect for meal prep, freezer meals, and a satisfying weeknight dinner!
