Delicious Blackberry Dumplings Recipe
Ingredients:
– 1 quart fresh or frozen blackberries, rinsed
– 1 cup water
– 1 cup sugar
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 1/2 tsp lemon extract
For Dumplings:
– 1 1/2 cups flour
– 2 tsp baking powder
– 1 tbsp sugar
– 1/4 tsp salt
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg
– 2/3 cup milk
Directions:
1. In a large, wide saucepan, combine blackberries, water, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, and lemon extract. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
2. For the dumplings, mix flour, 1 tbsp sugar, baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt, nutmeg, and milk until well combined.
3. Drop tablespoonfuls of the dumpling mixture into the simmering berry mixture.
4. Cover tightly and simmer for 15 minutes.
5. Serve hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream. Enjoy this delightful treat!
