    Crispy Fried Mushrooms Recipe (Golden & Extra Crunchy Appetizer)

    These crispy fried mushrooms are perfectly golden on the outside and tender on the inside. Made with a light, flavorful batter, this easy fried mushroom recipe is a crowd-pleasing appetizer, snack, or party food. Whether served with ranch dressing, garlic aioli, or fresh lemon wedges, these deep-fried mushrooms deliver restaurant-quality crunch at home.

    Ingredients for Crispy Fried Mushrooms
    1 lb (450 g) button mushrooms or cremini mushrooms (whole or halved if large)

    1 cup all-purpose flour

    ½ cup cornstarch (for extra crispiness)

    1 teaspoon garlic powder

    1 teaspoon onion powder

    1 teaspoon paprika (optional, for smoky flavor)

    ½ teaspoon black pepper

    1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

    1 cup cold sparkling water or beer (or milk/water for non-alcoholic version)

    1 egg (optional, for a richer batter)

    Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)

    How to Make Crispy Fried Mushrooms
    1. Prepare the Mushrooms
    Gently clean the mushrooms using a damp cloth or soft brush. If large, cut them in halves or quarters to ensure even cooking.

    2. Make the Batter
    In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
    Slowly add cold sparkling water (or beer) and the egg if using. Mix until smooth. The batter should be slightly thick but pourable.

    3. Heat the Oil
    Heat 1–2 inches of oil in a deep pan or pot to 350–375°F (175–190°C).

    4. Coat and Fry
    Dip each mushroom into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
    Carefully add mushrooms to the hot oil in small batches.
    Fry for 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.

    Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

    5. Serve Hot
    Sprinkle with extra salt if needed.
    Serve immediately with ranch dressing, garlic aioli, lemon wedges, and garnish with fresh parsley.
