    4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
    1 teaspoon ground cumin

    ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
    Salt and pepper, to taste
    4 oz cream cheese, softened
    1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
    Fresh cilantro or parsley, for garnish

    Instructions:

    Sauté the aromatics:
    Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook until soft and fragrant.
    Add the vegetables and spices:
    Stir in diced butternut squash, black beans, pumpkin purée, cumin, smoked paprika, cinnamon, and cayenne.
    Simmer for flavor:
    Pour in broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until squash is tender.
