    Classic Lasagna Recipe

    Make the best Classic Lasagna with rich ground beef meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella. Perfect for family dinner, easy Italian comfort food, and cheesy lasagna lovers!

    Ingredients:

    For the Ground Beef Meat Sauce:
    450g ground beef (or mix of beef and turkey)
    1 small onion, finely chopped
    3 garlic cloves, minced
    1 can (800g) crushed tomatoes
    2 tablespoons tomato paste
    1 can (400g) tomato sauce
    1 teaspoon sugar
    1 teaspoon dried basil
    1 teaspoon dried oregano
    Salt and pepper, to taste
    For the Ricotta Cheese Layer:
    425g ricotta cheese
    1 large egg
    1/4 cup (60ml) grated Parmesan cheese
    2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
    Other Ingredients for Classic Lasagna:
    12 lasagna sheets, cooked according to package instructions
    4 cups (400g) shredded mozzarella cheese
    1/2 cup (60ml) grated Parmesan cheese for topping

    Nutritional Info:

    Prep Time: 20 minutes
    Cooking Time: 1 hour
    Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
    Servings: 8
    Approx. 450 kcal per serving

    Directions:

    Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer 20-25 minutes for rich, flavorful sauce.

    Mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, and parsley in a bowl until smooth and creamy.

    Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
    Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.

    Add lasagna sheets on top. Spread half of the ricotta mixture and 1/3 of mozzarella cheese.

    Repeat layers: meat sauce → noodles → ricotta → mozzarella.

    Finish with remaining noodles, meat sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.

    Bake:

    Cover with foil and bake 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

     

    Tips & Variations for Classic Lasagna
    Use a mix of beef and Italian sausage for extra flavor.
    Substitute ricotta with cottage cheese for lighter lasagna.
    Add spinach or roasted vegetables for a veggie-packed lasagna.
    Let lasagna rest before slicing to keep layers intact.
