Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
8 cups beef broth
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 bay leaf
Directions:
Caramelize the Onions
Heat olive oil and butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add sliced onions, salt, and sugar. Cook slowly for 25–30 minutes until the onions turn golden and caramelized.
Add Garlic & Seasoning
Stir in minced garlic and thyme. Cook 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
Add Broth & Simmer
Pour in the beef broth, add the bay leaf, and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for 25–30 minutes to develop deep flavor.
Serve
