    Classic French Beef Stew with Mushrooms

     

    Classic French Beef Stew with Mushrooms

     

    Warm, hearty, and bursting with rich flavors, this Classic French Beef Stew with Mushrooms is the ultimate comfort food. Tender beef, earthy mushrooms, and a medley of vegetables are slow-cooked in a savory broth enhanced with aromatic herbs. Perfect for cozy family dinners or impressing guests, it’s a timeless dish that satisfies every craving. Serve it with crusty bread or creamy mashed potatoes for an unforgettable meal. This one-pot wonder is easy to prepare and brings a touch of French culinary charm to your table!

    Ingredients:

    900g beef stew, cut into 2.5 cm cubes

    Salt and black pepper, to taste

    3 tablespoons olive oil, divided

    1 large onion, cubed

    4 cloves garlic, minced

    3 carrots, sliced

    3 branches celery, sliced

    2 cups mushrooms, sliced

    2 tablespoons tomato paste

    750 ml beef broth

    1 bay leaf

    1 teaspoon dried thyme

    1 teaspoon rosemary

    2 tablespoons flour

    Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish

    Instructions:

    1. Season the Beef

    Generously season beef cubes with salt and black pepper for optimal flavor.

    2. Sear the Beef

    Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Sear the beef in batches for 5-7 minutes per batch until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

    3. Sauté the Vegetables

    Add the remaining olive oil to the pot. Sauté the onion, garlic, carrots, and celery for 5-6 minutes until tender and aromatic.

    4. Add Mushrooms and Tomato Paste

    Stir in the mushrooms and tomato paste, cooking for 2-3 minutes to enhance the flavors.

    5. Deglaze and Add Liquids

    Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir well. Gradually pour in beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pot to deglaze. Add the bay leaf, thyme, and rosemary.

    6. Simmer the Stew

    Return the seared beef to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1.5-2 hours until the beef is fork-tender.

    7. Garnish and Serve

    Remove the bay leaf, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve this rich, hearty stew hot.
