Cinnamon Roll Apple “Lasagna”

Ingredients for the Apple Filling:
4 cups peeled, diced apples (about 4 medium apples Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended)
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Additional Ingredients:
2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing)
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional: chopped pecans or walnuts for topping
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
2. In a saucepan, cook diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch over medium heat until apples are tender and the mixture thickens (about 8–10 minutes). Set aside.
3. Separate cinnamon rolls and flatten each one slightly with your hands or a rolling pin.
4. Place a layer of cinnamon rolls at the bottom of the baking dish, pressing them to cover the surface like a crust.
5. Spoon half the apple filling over the cinnamon roll layer.
6. Repeat with another layer of cinnamon rolls and the remaining apple filling.
7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until cinnamon rolls are golden brown and fully cooked.
8. Drizzle with the included icing and sprinkle with nuts (if using).
