    Cheesy Italian Meatball Casserole Recipe

     

    This Meatball Casserole is a hearty and comforting dish perfect for family dinners! It combines creamy mashed potatoes, juicy Italian meatballs, and gooey mozzarella cheese baked to golden perfection. With its simple assembly and customizable sauces like marinara, Alfredo, or bechamel, it’s a versatile crowd-pleaser. Ideal for meal prep, you can make it ahead, store it in the fridge, or freeze it for up to 10 months. Serve it warm, garnished with fresh parsley, for a cozy and satisfying meal!

    Ingredients:

    1 recipe Italian meatballs (with marinara sauce)

    1 recipe creamy mashed potatoes

    2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

    2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

    Instructions:

    1. Prepare Meatballs & Mashed Potatoes
    Follow the recipes for homemade Italian meatballs with marinara sauce and creamy mashed potatoes.

    2. Preheat the Oven
    Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) for perfect baking.

    3. Prep the Casserole Dish
    Lightly coat a 9×13-inch casserole dish with nonstick spray. (I recommend a Le Creuset Braiser for even cooking.)

    4. Assemble Your Casserole

    Spread the mashed potatoes evenly in the bottom of the dish.

    Arrange the juicy meatballs over the potatoes in an even layer.

    5. Bake the Casserole

    Bake for 20 minutes until heated through.

    Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top and return to the oven. Bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

    6. Garnish and Serve
    Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve this warm, cheesy comfort dish to your family or guests!

    Notes:

    Make-Ahead Tips: Assemble your casserole, cover with foil, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Bake as directed when ready.
