    Braised Oxtail Recipe

     

    Braised Oxtail Recipe

    Ingredients
    – 3 lbs oxtail, cut
    – Salt and black pepper to taste
    – 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    – 1 large onion, chopped
    – 3 garlic cloves, minced
    – 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, chopped
    – 1 cup beef broth
    – 1/2 cup red wine
    – 2 tablespoons soy sauce
    – 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    – 2 bay leaves
    – 1 teaspoon dried thyme
    – 2 carrots, sliced
    – 2 celery stalks, sliced

     

    Directions

    1. Prepare the Oxtail: Season the oxtail pieces with salt and black pepper. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the oxtail and sear until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
    2. Cook the Aromatics: In the same pot, add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped ginger. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
    3. Add Liquids and Seasonings: Return the oxtail to the pot. Add the beef broth, red wine, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaves, and dried thyme. Bring to a boil.
    4. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2-3 hours, or until the meat is tender and falls off the bone.
    5. Add Vegetables: Add the sliced carrots and celery in the last 30 minutes of cooking.
    6. Finish and Serve: Remove the bay leaves before serving. Serve the oxtail with the vegetable mixture and broth.
