Biscuits and Gravy Recipe – Southern Comfort Breakfast
Fluffy Biscuits with Creamy Sausage Gravy

Indulge in this classic Southern breakfast recipe: soft, buttery biscuits smothered in rich, creamy sausage gravy. Perfect for lazy weekend mornings, hearty brunches, or any comfort food craving. This easy biscuits and gravy recipe will become your go-to for a satisfying start to the day.

    Ingredients
    For the Biscuits:

    2 cups all-purpose flour

    1 tbsp baking powder

    1 tsp sugar

    ½ tsp salt

½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

    ¾ cup milk

    For the Sausage Gravy:

1 lb breakfast sausage (pork or your choice)

    3 tbsp all-purpose flour

    2 ½ cups milk

    ½ tsp black pepper

¼ tsp salt (adjust to taste)

¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

    Instructions
    Make the Biscuits:

    Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in milk until just combined; do not overmix.

Roll dough on a floured surface and cut into biscuits.

Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.

    Make the Sausage Gravy:

In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned and fully cooked.

Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.

Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and creamy.

Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (optional).

Simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until gravy thickens.

    Serve:

Split the warm biscuits in half and generously pour creamy sausage gravy over them.

Enjoy this classic Southern comfort food with your favorite morning coffee or tea.
