Looking for the ultimate comfort food? This Amish Farmhouse Feast is a warm, hearty, and easy ground beef and potato casserole that’s slow-cooked to perfection. Just like grandma used to make, this Amish-inspired slow cooker dinner is a wholesome family favorite that disappears fast at the dinner table!
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions:
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until soft and fragrant.
2. Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, then drain the excess fat.
3. In your slow cooker, mix the beef mixture with cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
4. Layer the sliced potatoes over the beef mixture, alternating layers until all ingredients are used.
5. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
6. In the final 30 minutes, sprinkle cheddar cheese on top. Cover again and let the cheese melt to gooey perfection.
7. Serve warm, optionally garnished with fresh parsley.
Tips & Variations:
Swap cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken soup for a lighter taste.
Add vegetables like carrots or celery for extra flavor and nutrition.
For a spicy kick, mix in 1 tablespoon of chili powder when browning the beef.
Try sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes for a twist on the classic.
To make it gluten-free, ensure your condensed soup is certified gluten-free.
