    Classic Southern Fried Chicken with Creamy Mashed Potatoes
    Golden, Crispy, Juicy & Pure Comfort Food

    Nothing says comfort like classic Southern fried chicken paired with creamy mashed potatoes. This timeless recipe delivers crispy, golden chicken with a tender, juicy inside, thanks to a flavorful buttermilk marinade and perfectly seasoned coating. Served with rich, buttery mashed potatoes, it’s the ultimate homestyle dinner everyone loves.

    Perfect for Sunday dinners, family gatherings, or comfort-food cravings, this dish brings restaurant-quality Southern flavor straight to your kitchen.

    Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
    For the Southern Fried Chicken
    8 pieces chicken (drumsticks, thighs, wings, or breasts)

    2 cups buttermilk

    1 tbsp hot sauce (optional, adds depth of flavor)

    2 cups all-purpose flour

    1 tsp paprika

    1 tsp garlic powder

    1 tsp onion powder

    1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

    ½ tsp black pepper

    ½ tsp salt

    Vegetable or peanut oil, for frying

    For the Creamy Mashed Potatoes
    6 large potatoes, peeled and cubed

    4 tbsp unsalted butter

    ½ cup milk or cream

    Salt and pepper, to taste

    Fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

    Instructions:

    Marinate the Chicken for Juiciness
    In a large bowl, whisk together buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken, making sure each piece is fully coated. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour (overnight for best results).

    Season & Dredge
    Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, black pepper, and salt.
    Remove chicken from marinade, let excess drip off, then dredge thoroughly in seasoned flour. Let rest 10 minutes to help the crust stick.

    Fry Until Golden & Crispy
    Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken in batches for 12–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until deeply golden and cooked through (165°F / 74°C). Drain on paper towels.

    Make the Creamy Mashed Potatoes
    Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (15–20 minutes). Drain, add butter and milk, then mash until smooth and creamy. Season to taste.

    Serve & Enjoy
    Serve crispy fried chicken alongside fluffy mashed potatoes. Garnish with parsley and enjoy immediately.
