    Crispy Southern Fried Okra

    This classic Southern Fried Okra is irresistibly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Coated in a flavorful cornmeal crust and fried to golden perfection, it’s the ultimate comfort-food side dish that’s easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser!

    Ingredients:

    Fresh okra, sliced into ½-inch pieces
    1 large egg
    2 tablespoons milk
    1 cup cornmeal
    ½ cup all-purpose flour
    Salt and black pepper, to taste
    Vegetable oil, for frying

    Instructions:

    Wash the fresh okra thoroughly and slice into ½-inch rounds.
    In a bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until well combined.
    Add the okra to the egg mixture and toss until evenly coated.
    In a separate bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, salt, and pepper.
    Dredge the okra in the cornmeal mixture, pressing gently so it sticks well.
    Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    Fry the okra in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
    Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
    Sprinkle with extra salt if desired and serve hot.
