One-Pot Creamy Tomato Basil Gnocchi

Ingredients:
1 tbsp butter
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (15 oz / 425 g) can crushed tomatoes
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup water or vegetable/chicken broth
1 lb (450 g) potato gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp dried basil (or 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional garnish: fresh basil leaves or red pepper flakes
Directions:
Melt butter in a large pot or deep skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook 4–5 minutes until soft and translucent. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, and water or broth. Mix in basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer for 3–4 minutes.
Add potato gnocchi to the sauce. Simmer uncovered for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until gnocchi are tender and the sauce thickens slightly.
Reduce heat to low and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
